Post-2015 Development Agenda refers to a process led by the United Nations that aims to define the future global development framework that will succeed the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), a set of eight global development targets which will come to an end in 2015.
The United Country Team (UNCT) in Thailand has actively engaged the Thai public to share their views on “The World Thais Want” after the year 2015. The UN has partnered with Chulalongkorn University Social Research Institute (CUSRI) to conduct discussions with selected marginalized groups about their development priorities. Six main groups have been identified, including (1) vulnerable people – women, elderly, people living with HIV/AIDs and people with disabilities (2) ethnic people in Northern and Southern provinces (3) rural poor – poor in the rural of northeastern province, landless farmers, subsistent farmers and small-scale fishers (4) urban poor and (5) labour – formal, informal and migrant workers.” Add link to CUSRI’s report here…
The UN has also launched a National Campaign on the MYWorld Global Survey for the Thai public to take part in the global post-2015 consultations. The survey asks individuals to choose six of the sixteen development issues they think would make the most difference to their lives. Thailand registered over 69,000 votes in MYWorld or 5.2% of total global votes. Thailand is ranked top 3rd in the world in terms votes.
